The City of Sherrill celebrated it’s 100th Anniversary in 2016! Visit https://sherrillny.org/100th-anniversary/ to learn more about the celebrations!

There are approximately 100 binders with newspaper clippings, photographs of early Sherrill, newspapers with complete historical events and various historical items at City Hall. All are cataloged so an event may be found with relative ease. There are also three videotapes available for purchase depicting early scenes from the City as well as clips of early city anniversaries. A second tape shows highlights of the City’s 75th anniversary and the third tape shows the extensive parade held in conjunction with the 75th anniversary. People with news clippings or other memorabilia regarding the history of the City are encouraged when they no longer have a place to satisfactorily store it, to give it to the City to be included in the historical files.

Thank you to Craig Crowell who was appointed City Historian in 2000 and served until 2013. His work to gather and archive items related to the City of Sherrill has resulted in a rich collection of information which is stored at City Hall and will be preserved as a resource for the community about city history. The City appreciates his work and wishes him well.

The current City Historian is Brian King, he can be reached by email at [email protected]
