A few residents have reported receiving phone calls from an individual claiming to be from the IRS who leaves a message saying they will be sued if they don’t call back immediately. These phone calls have come from phone number (509) 588-7318. The Police Department advises against returning these calls as the IRS does not make phone calls of this kind.
Also, if you receive a notice in the mail that you have won a lottery or money please be cautious about responding and giving out personal information. Many of these notices are sent out in an attempt to gather an individual’s personal information for personal monetary gain.
