Sherrill City Commission Statement

January 24, 2017

Last night the City Commission appointed former City Manager Bob Comis as Interim City Manager and City Clerk/Comptroller Mike Holmes as Deputy City Manager. While day to day business of the City has been handled by our capable department heads and staff, assisted by Mike Holmes and Mayor Bill Vineall, there are certain technical powers and duties set forth in the City Charter that can only be exercised by a formally appointed City Manager.  These interim appointments assure that someone is in place for this purpose. The Commission will also consider a Charter amendment to assure a Deputy is in place more permanently to cover unanticipated future needs. The Commission has begun the process of seeking a replacement City Manager and intends to move promptly to complete his or her selection and appointment.
