The City of Sherrill offices will be closed on Monday, May 25, 2020 in observance of Memorial Day and Tuesday, May 26, 2020 due to a citywide employee furlough day.  The  City’s scheduled green waste pick-up will be changed to Wednesday, May 27, 2020.  The City Commission meeting will be Tuesday, May 26 at 7pm. COVID-19 restrictions will be in place, including social distancing, wearing masks and capacity restrictions. Residents are asked to please note this change.

As previously shared, Sherrill’s traditional Memorial Day parade will not place this year.  Sherrill American Legion Post 230 has coordinated a plan for an honorary drive on Memorial Day, Monday May 25, that will start at 10am.  A Sherrill Legion float, Sherrill-Kenwood Volunteer Fire Department trucks and the City of Sherrill Police Department will start at the Sherrill Community Activity Center, turn right on Sherrill Road and cross Route 5, turn right on East Seneca Street and continue past Sherrill American Legion Post 230, turn right on Betsinger Road and follow it to Hamilton Ave and then turn right and drive down the length of Hamilton Ave back to Route 5 where they will disperse.  Residents must follow social distancing and not gather along the route.  Memorial Day is a day to honor and remember those who have served our country and the drive will be part of an effort to do so.  The City of Sherrill has also put up flags in Memorial Park and a few other locations throughout the City.  Sherrill American Legion Post 230 has some flags available for purchase for residents or businesses who would like to fly them.  They can be purchased at Sherrill American Legion Post 230 during their Friday dinner pickups by calling (315) 363-3920 or by contacting Sherrill Legion Post Commander Ron Tarry, (315) 813-9060.
