Possible Discolored Water and Low Pressure

The City of Oneida Water Department will be starting the Lake Street Pump Station August 22, 2016 due to increased water demands in the system.  The starting of the pumps may cause some discoloration of water for a few days due to increased flow.  Residents are advised to check their cold water prior to utilizing hot water.  Caution should be exercised if washing clothes.  The discoloration is due to corrosion of some of the unlined water mains in the City.  The discoloration may affect the City of Oneida; Sherrill-Kenwood Water District; Village of Oneida Castle, Wampsville and Vernon; Town of Stockbridge, Prospect Street Water District; and Verona Districts.  Low pressure may also be experienced during this period.
