Recycling Information

Each day Sherrill city workers pick up about 7.74 tons of garbage at nearly 500 locations.  The city pays to get rid of garbage but it’s free to get rid of recyclables.  They go to a facility where they are sorted and resold to make new things.  Last year the City of Sherrill recycled 145.63 tons of paper and 81.61 tons of plastic, glass and cans.

Please place all recyclable items- paper, plastic, metal, and glass together in one designated reusable recycling bin, 32 gallons or under, under 20 pounds, with a lid, without a bag.

No bags will be accepted for recycling collection.  By not putting recyclables in a bag it’s easier to sort the recyclables at the facility and by keeping the weight of the bin under 20 pounds city workers are able to transfer the material into the recycling trailer.

*1 EXCEPTION TO THE RECYCLING RULE*

YOU CAN PLACE SHREDDED PAPER IN A CLEAR PLASTIC BAG FOR RECYCING COLLECTION.

Stickers for your bins are available at City Hall.

Garbage may still be placed in bags.

*Please make sure your recycling bins and garbage cans are marked so that they can be picked up properly.  Free stickers for your recycling bins can be picked up at City Hall.*
